FleetSmart is a program offered by Natural Resources Canada introducing fleets to energy-efficient practices that can reduce fuel consumption and emissions.
Why for fleets?
On-road commercial transportation has undergone a dramatic increase in activity and energy consumption. From 1990 to 2004, the number of heavy-duty diesel vehicles in Canada increased by 110 percent, with an 83 percent increase in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. This growth increases health and environmental problems.
We offer free practical advice on how energy-efficient vehicles and business practices can reduce your fleet’s operating costs, fuel consumption and GHG emissions, improve productivity and increase your competitiveness.
Our efforts are directed at on-road commercial and institutional fleets. We have specific training for highway trucking, forestry, motor coach, school bus, urban trucking and transit.
